About Dr. Malvin Finkelstein, O.M.D., L.Ac., Dipl.O.M.

MalvinDr. Malvin Finkelstein is the founder of the Eugene Center for Acupuncture. He has been practicing acupuncture, Chinese herbology and acupressure/tuina in Eugene, Oregon since 1980.

Training
He graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in Boston, Massachusetts, studied at the Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China and received his Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree from the California Acupuncture College. He has received advanced training in treating musculoskeletal pain with acupuncture, trigger and motor points, Chinese massage (tuina), ETPS microcurrent, and osteopathy and has received advanced Medical Qigong training in China.

Licensing and Certification
He is licensed to practice acupuncture in the State of Oregon and is nationally board certified in acupuncture, Chinese herbology and Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Professional Activities
As part of Dr. Finkelstein's service to his profession, he has served on the Board and been president or chairperson of the first five organizations listed below. He was on the Founding Board of the sixth.

  2. National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
  3. Pain Society of Oregon (a multidisciplinary group of health care providers including MDs, Osteopaths, Nurses, Pharmacists, NDs, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists and Physical Therapists)
  4. National Qigong Association
  5. Oregon Acupuncture Association
  6. Oregon College of Oriental Medicine

Books and Classes
Dr. Finkelstein is the author of the books,The Energetic Function of Points and Digestive Disorders - Diagnosis and Treatment and the DVD, 3 Centers Qigong. He has taught acupuncture, acupressure and qigong in the U.S. and Europe. Currently he is teaching a four-part class series for acupuncturists and other health professionals in Microcurrent Positional Tuina (MPT) using microcurrent, tuina and qigong to treat painful conditions and is writing a book on qigong for postural alignment.
